1. What is Snapkeys?

SnapKeys is the new technology for touchscreen devices that revolutionizes the way you interact with data on your screen. A typing technology that lets you see and interact with more content like pictures, videos, and text while writing comments, emails, or filling in fields during login or on forms. With so much access to information on the screen of your mobile device, you will feel the difference in the experience.

2. SnapKeys has been installed, but I still see the old traditional keyboard. How do I switch to SnapKeys?

You will need to go into the Settings menu in your mobile device - you should find a menu that says “Language & Input” or “Locale and text” or similar. Select the input method and check off the“ Si SnapKeys”to use SnapKeys. In some mobile devices, you may then have to click on ‘default’ and to make SnapKeys your default keyboard.

3. What is word prediction?

Word prediction is a known technique which enables you to type quickly, while using only a few keys. In this technology each key contains several letters, so that all the user has to do is tap anywhere on a key (with the desired letter). As you type your words the system predicts them based on the sequence of key presses. This technology has been used for over a decade and is currently popular amongst billions of users worldwide.

4. How to type precisely?

On the Space key, slide leftwards to activate the Precise Keyboard. You will notice that the SnapKeys have become bigger. You can now tap on each letter precisely to enter at word.  You can also add this word to the dictionary.

5. Which word is the current word I am typing?

The current word being typed is shown in the word list (highlighted with in Blue) on the right side of the screen. Press space to enter it.

6. How do I switch to Advanced Mode?

Advanced mode is under development and is not currently enabled. Please stay tuned!

7. I want to select the other proposed words. How do I select the proposed words being shown?

To select the word you want, Tap on the word.

8. The word I wanted to type was not presented to me. If SnapKeys Si does not predict my word, how do I get it?

Touch on the area between the SnapKeys and then slide towards the right (this will activate the “next word” action which presents more words in the word list) to find more words. You can repeat this action several times until SnapKeys proposes your word in the word list. If SnapKeys stops presenting you with words (this will not happen often), then your word is not in the dictionary. On the Space key, slide leftwards to type out your word letter-by-letter (precise typing). You can also add this word to the dictionary after you have typed it, by long pressing on the word.

9. I cannot see punctuation marks and other special characters. Where are the special characters, symbols, and numbers?

On the Backspace key, slide downwards, to switch your SnapKeys Si from letters mode to special characters, symbols, and numbers mode.

10. The word is not in the dictionary. How do I add my word to the dictionary?

Type your word (a word that is not in the dictionary will be printed in Red). Long press on this word to add it to the dictionary (its color will change to Black). Note: In a word list, those words highlighted in red are not in the dictionary. . This feature only works while typing a word in precise mode.

11. How do I delete a word from the dictionary?

This feature is currently under development.

12. I cannot touch/click on buttons and fields that I see on the screen. How do I remove the SnapKeys from the screen so that I can touch/interact with something underneath them?

On the Backspace key, slide upwards to remove the keys from your screen – this way you can access any content displayed on your screen. Alternatively, you can press the standard back/return button on your Android device. You can also relocate the keyboard: Refer to Relocating SnapKeys Si.

13. How do I move a word in the word list, so that it becomes the center/current word that I am typing?

Touch the area between the Snapkeys and slide downwards or upwards to change your current word that you are typing. Then continue to type your current word.

14. How do I type a comma/period?

For a comma: On the Backspace key, slide diagonally towards the bottom right.
For a period: On the Space key, slide diagonally towards the bottom left.

15. How do I type an apostrophe?

Usually, you can simply tap on the area between the SnapKeys for an apostrophe, or alternatively you can precisely type it by touching on the Yellow key and sliding towards the top-right, or you can also select the apostrophe from the Special Characters mode.

16. How do I type Enter?

On the Space key, slide downwards.

17. I want to capitalize a letter. How do I shift?

On the Space key, slide upwards to Shift. Note: If you capitalize the first letter of a word, SnapKeys will first try to propose proper nouns like names of places and people before it displays ordinary words - this helps you type names quickly.

18. I want to CAPITALIZE all the letters that I type. How do I use Caps Lock?

On the Space key, slide diagonally towards the top left.

19. How do I get to the Setting menu?

On the Backspace key, simply slide your finger diagonally towards the top right, and the Settings Menu will appear. You can also slide towards the right, starting from the left edge of the screen, above the SnapKeys, to activate the Setting Menu. Tap anywhere outside the Settings Menu for it to disappear.

20. How do I see the content under the keys?

Go to settings. Use one of the following options:
  • Turn on the invisible mode
  • Make the keys transparent
  • Resize the keys

You can also relocate the SnapKeys or hide the SnapKeys – on the Backspace key, slide upwards or press the standard back/return button on your android device.

21. How do I make the SnapKeys Invisible?

Go to settings – Slide towards the right from outside left-hand edge of the screen.. On the settings page you can choose turn on/off the key visibility. Touch outside the settings menu to get back.

22. How do I make the SnapKeys transparent?

Go to settings – Slide towards the right from outside left-hand edge of the screen. On the settings page you can make the keys transparent by moving the slider. Touch outside the settings menu to get back.

23. How do I change the size of the SnapKeys?

Go to settings – Slide towards the right from outside left-hand edge of the screen. On the settings page you can change the size of the keys by moving the slider. Touch outside the settings menu to get back.

24. How do I relocate the SnapKeys?

You can relocate the SnapKeys anywhere on the screen – press and hold the Space and Backspace keys simultaneously and move your SnapKeys to a desired location on the screen.

25. How to backspace fast? How to erase/delete words quickly/repeatedly.

On the Backspace key, slide leftwards and hold to delete a full word. Continue to hold to repeatedly delete more words.

26. How do I go to the next field while typing my username/password or filling in forms?

You can use the Tab function – on the Space key, slide towards the right.

27. Can I hear the words that I type? Can SnapKeys read out the words as I type them?

Yes, in the Settings menu you can activate the Android text-to-speech option. Go to settings – Slide towards the right from outside left-hand edge of the screen. Now, in the Settings menu, check the Text to Speech option to activate the audio read out of the words you type.

28. Each time I tap on the screen (between the SnapKeys) to select/activate an item on the screen, the letters (B, U, C) appear. How do I prevent this from happening?

The zone between the SnapKeys is reserved for typing. When you tap on this area (for the first letter of a word), the letters (B, U, C) will typically appear because SnapKeys thinks you are typing a word. Remove SnapKeys from the screen (on the Backspace key, slide upwards) so that you can select/activate the desired item on the screen.

29. The proposed words are generally printed in Black, yet sometimes they are Red. What do these colors mean?

When a word is printed in Black, it means that the word is contained in the dictionary. When a word is printed in Red, it means that this word is not in the dictionary. You can type a word precisely letter-for-letter in Precise Mode and then long press on the word printed in Red to add it to the dictionary. After the word is added, it's color will be changed to Black.

30. I am multi-lingual and I want to type in more than one language. Can I type multiple languages with SnapKeys?

Yes, you can type in multiple languages using SnapKeys Si. On the Backspace key, slide towards the right to activate the language menu. Press on your desired language.

31. SnapKeys does not work on my mobile device. How can I make SnapKeys work on my device?

First check that your device is compatible by reviewing the Device Compatibility List - in the SnapKeys Forum http://www.snapkeys.com/forum. If the model name of your device is on the Device Compatibility List, then you should be able to smoothly download SnapKeys Si from Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=Snapkeys&c=apps). SnapKeys Si does not currently run on iPhone and iPad devices – Apple prevents the installation of data entry technologies. Contact Apple and ask them to open their system so that developers can add data entry technologies to their devices.

32. Which languages does SnapKeys support?

SnapKeys supports the following languages at this time:
  • English [currently available]
  • French
  • Italian
  • German
  • Spanish [currently available]
